IWG Kitamaru 85Z (FB14731) is one of our embryo donor cows. She is a well-bred, extremely fertile Red/Black Wagyu cow (50% Red Wagyu / Akaushi & 50% Black Wagyu) with an excellent flush history, and has proven her calf-raising ability by raising multiple outstanding natural offspring. She has She produced an average of over 12 embryos per flush. She is sired by a rare and high quality Red Wagyu, WSI Umemaru, who is sired by the high carcass quality Hikari and out of the famous Kaedemaru original import cow. She is out of a cow sired by CHR Kitaguni 07K (Kitaguni Jr. / Kikuhana / Itomichi / Hikohime 3). Her maternal grand-dam is sired by Fukutsuru-068 / Takazakura / and out of a cow sired by Takazakura / Kikuhana / JVP Kikuyasu-400 and out of the original import sire Yuriko-1. Her pedigree is stacked with high quality carcass genetics.
The following list of famous animals makes up 100% of her total genetics:
- 25% Hikari (paternal grand sire), a foundation Red Wagyu sired by Dai 10 Mitsumaru, and which is known to be one of the outstanding carcass quality Red Wagyu foundation sires.
- 25% Kaedemaru (paternal grand dam), a Red Wagyu foundation dam sired by Hikari and out of a dam sired by Dai 10 Mitsumaru (sire of Hikari, so this donor cow is double-bred Dai 10 Mitsumaru), and out of a rare dam, Dai-San Namiaki, who has only four recorded offspring, who lived to over 25 years of age, and is well regarded for carcass quality.
- 12.5% Kitaguni Jr. (maternal great grand sire), a Black Wagyu foundation sire known for excellent marbling.
- 12.5% Fukutsuru-068, a Black Wagyu foundation sire known for excellent marbling.

- 1.56% Yuriko-1, her original foundation cow family, grand-sired by the famous Dai 20 Hirashige 287, who is double-bred Kedaka 7212.
She is a “balanced” Wagyu, stoutly build, with a medium-sized frame (1,100 lbs) with outstanding phenotype and conformation, who’s pedigree indicates that she should contribute excellent carcass qualities to her offspring, which we have proven, as the pictures of beef cuts below show. She is very docile and “easy keeping”, and she has proven to have excellent calf-raising characteristics, outstanding fertility and far higher than average embryo production per flush.
She is tested free of the known genetic recessive disorders. DNA tests: SCD=VA; Tenderness=4. She carries a single copy of the black and red coat color genes, proven by offspring.
The picture of her below were taken at the age of 50 months. The pictures of the steaks below are from steer FB32471 out of this cow (and sired by Shigeshigetani 30T). The the length of this steer’s rib roll was huge (making higher than normal high-value ribeye steaks) as shown by the thickness of the bone-in ribeye steak cut half-way between the rib bones (2.5″ thick), and as shown in the picture, the marbling was outstanding in the ribeye steaks as well as the strip steaks. It is also worth noting that the lipid melting point (of the ribeye marbling fat in this case, using the “slip point” testing method) was at the extreme low end (favorable) of what we have found in our testing, at 71 degrees Fahrenheit (21.7 degrees Celsius). While it is impossible to know how much of the carcass quality was contributed by this cow vs. the sire of the steer, the genetics from this cow, making up 50% of the genetics of the steer, certainly contributed to the quality.
In our opinion this cow is a super-star, indicative of the best of both Red Wagyu and Black Wagyu.
